Sur les pas du tournage du film "Un Singe En Hiver"

Le film « Un Singe en Hiver » fut tourné en grande partie à Villerville en 1962. Les Villervillais sont attachés à ce film et en sont fiers. Un hommage a été rendu en 2012, à l’occasion du cinquantenaire du tournage du film. Tous les ans, un feu d’artifice est tiré lors du dernier week-end d’octobre, comme dans le film. Les cinéphiles viennent aussi se promener sur les lieux du tournage toujours présents et signalisés par des totems (plan disponible au Bureau d’Information Touristique).

Claude Pinoteau a écrit, à l’occasion du cinquantenaire :
« Étrange, comme une oeuvre majeure peut s’accomplir en remplacement fortuit d’un projet avorté. Renonçant au film « Au large de l’Eden », Jean Gabin obligea Henri Verneuil et Michel Audiard à trouver un autre sujet dans un strict délai imposé par son contrat. Prémonition ? Hasard ? Cette servitude engendra un chef-d’oeuvre. Le mérite en revient principalement à Audiard qui proposa, in extremis, le roman d’Antoine Blondin : « Un singe en hiver ». Tout s’enchaîna alors incroyablement, comme si ce film avait préexisté et s’épanouissait enfin librement : casting, mise en scène, dialogues, plan de travail, décors... Ce film avait « la grâce ». Parti en repérage de la côte picarde jusqu’au Cotentin pour trouver le « Tigreville » du roman, Villerville s’imposa à moi comme une évidence. Verneuil l’adopta sur photos ».

Le « Singe en Hiver » est désormais rangé dans le coeur de chaque cinéphile et inscrit dans la mémoire de Villerville.
Chacun pourra y retrouver les décors immuables de chaque scène et les fantômes des acteurs qui les hantent joyeusement !

In 1962, the movie « Un singe en hiver » was shot in Villerville. Inhabitants are attached to this film and proud of it. A tribute was made in 2012, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary.
Each year, a there is a firework on the last weekend of October, like in the movie. Film-lovers come to walk on the shooting scene which is still here and noticed by markers (map available at the Tourist Information Office).
Claude Pinoteau wrote, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary : « That’s strange how a major work can be accomplished by replacing a failed project. Renouncing the movie « Au large de l’Eden », Jean Gabin forced Henri Verneuil and Michel Audiard to find another theme, within a strict deadline imposed by the contract. Premonition ? Chance ? That servitude produced a masterpiece. The credit goes to Audiard who suggested, at the very last moment, Antoine Blondin’s novel « Un singe en hiver ». Everything went so incredibly, as if the film had pre-existed and
bloomed finally free : cast, staging, dialogs, scenery, work plan... The movie was « graceful ». Left in location recce, from the Picardy coast to Cotentin to find the « Tigreville » of the novel, Villerville came to me as evidence. Verneuil adopted it from pictures ».
« Un Singe en Hiver » is now in the heart of filmlovers, and remain engraved in Villerville memory. Everyone can find there the unchanging scenery of every scene, and players ghosts who haunt them happily !
