Née en 1962, Isabelle Le Cardinal a découvert sa vocation de peintre quelque temps après son accident vasculaire cérébral de septembre 2004. L'expression picturale est alors devenue pour elle la meilleure façon "d'être au monde" puisqu'elle était privée de parole et incapable d'écrire.
Petit à petit, elle a perfectionné sa technique auprès de quelques artistes, comme Philippe Sommet, et a fait le choix de la peinture acrylique sur toile de coton ou de lin. Elle a ainsi pu exposer en divers endroits de la région : l'hôtel Bellevue, le couvent de la Joie Saint Benoît, la crêperie Le Louis d'Or, la galerie Médusa à Bayeux, le restaurant le 49 à Saint Vigor-le-Grand, le marché de Noël à Courseulles, sans oublier la galerie des Croisiers à Caen en janvier dernier. Et aujourd'hui elle revient au centre culturel Léopold Sedar-Senghor de Port-en-Bessin, à l'invitation de la mairie, après y avoir exposé une première fois en 2011.

Born in 1962, Isabelle Le Cardinal discovered her calling as a painter shortly after her stroke in September 2004. Painting then became for her the best way to ‘be in the world’, as she was unable to speak or write.
Little by little, she honed her technique under the guidance of several artists, such as Philippe Sommet, and chose to work in acrylic on cotton or linen canvas. She has since exhibited her work at various venues across the region: the Hôtel Bellevue, the Joie Saint Benoît convent, the crêperie Le Louis d’Or, the Médusa gallery in Bayeux, the restaurant Le 49 in Saint-Vigor-le-Grand, the Christmas market in Courseulles, not to mention the Galerie des Croisiers in Caen last January.
