Description

Theater / Suitable for all ages 13 and up.
By Marivaux.
To test the sincerity of Dorante—who has been arranged to be her suitor without her ever having met him—Silvia swaps clothes with her maid, Lisette. What she doesn’t know is that her suitor is using the same ruse with his valet, Arlequin. Thus disguised, the two couples will fall prey to this game of chance and love orchestrated by Silvia’s father and his son Mario. Will they manage to find their way out of this cruel labyrinth of love? That, of course, is the whole point of this brilliant scenario—exhausting for those who are its victims, exhilarating for those who manipulate them.
Performed by a cast brimming with passion and camaraderie, the stage becomes a battlefield of conflicting temptations. It’s sparkling, it’s wild, it’s whirling at a breakneck pace in a ballroom being set up, with the atmosphere of a lively fair and open-air dance hall. Wild energy, physical and vocal commitment, and a breathless, joyful production!
