Au programme : "Pour une archéologie de la Seconde Guerre mondiale : origines, actualité, enjeux" par Vincent Carpentier.
Cette conférence évoquera les origines, les acquis et les récentes évolutions qui ont accompagné l’émergence de cette archéologie de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, puis proposera un panorama des grandes catégories de vestiges conservés ou mis au jour sur les théâtres de ce conflit majeur, en évoquant les enjeux mémoriels et de connaissance qui s’y rapportent.
Vincent Carpentier est archéologue responsable d’opérations et de recherches à l’Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (Inrap), docteur en histoire et membre du centre Michel de Boüard (CRAHAM, UMR 6273, CNRS-Université de Caen Normandie). Depuis 2014, il a dirigé et pris part à de nombreuses opérations de fouille portant sur des sites de la Seconde Guerre mondiale en Normandie
Ses travaux récents et actuels portent sur les vestiges des combats de la bataille de Normandie, ceux du camp d’internement de nomades de Montreuil-Bellay, la culture matérielle et tactique des combattants de 1939-1945 et celle des civils au sein des abris antiaériens.

On the programme: ‘Towards an archaeology of the Second World War: origins, current developments and challenges’ by Vincent Carpentier.
This lecture will explore the origins, achievements and recent developments that have accompanied the emergence of this field of archaeology focusing on the Second World War, before providing an overview of the main categories of remains preserved or unearthed in the theatres of this major conflict, whilst addressing the related issues of remembrance and knowledge.
Vincent Carpentier is an archaeologist in charge of operations and research at the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap), holds a PhD in history and is a member of the Michel de Boüard Centre (CRAHAM, UMR 6273, CNRS–University of Caen Normandy). Since 2014, he has led and participated in numerous excavation projects at Second World War sites in Normandy
His recent and current work focuses on the remains of the fighting during the Battle of Normandy, those of the Montreuil-Bellay internment camp for Travellers, the material culture and tactics of combatants from 1939–1945, and those of civilians in air-raid shelters.
