Description
Pratique :

On the programme: ‘Horses in the Battle of Normandy’ by Stéphane Jonot, director of the Montormel Memorial.
This lecture is part of Equidays, the horse festival organised by the Calvados Department.
In the collective imagination, the German army of the Second World War is seen as entirely mechanised. Images of panzers during the 1940 blitzkrieg have obscured the reality of an army that was largely dependent on horse-drawn transport, as evidenced by photographs of the battlefield in the Falaise-Chambois pocket in August 1944, which was strewn with the carcasses of horses still harnessed to their carts.
