Un spectacle exceptionnel à découvrir au théâtre de Caen
On y va en bus ! Départ à 18h devant le TMC
Brel a beau avoir chanté La Valse à mille temps, nul n’avait encore songé à chorégraphier ses chansons. C’est désormais chose faite avec le tandem Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker / Solal Mariotte. Et cela semble une évidence si l’on songe à la forte expressivité du chanteur, sa gestuelle, son engagement sur scène.
D’un côté, une chorégraphe incontournable au succès international, de l’autre, un jeune talent prometteur, venu des danses urbaines. Si la première a cheminé toute sa vie avec la figure de Brel, le second, lui, l’a découvert plus récemment via le web. Deux esthétiques, deux générations. Et ces différences questionnent les thèmes chers au célèbre chanteur belge : l’amour, la vieillesse, le temps qui passe… S’ils semblent atemporels, comment résonnent ses textes aujourd’hui ?

Brel may have sung “La Valse” a thousand times, but no one had yet thought to choreograph his songs. That has now been accomplished by the duo Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Solal Mariotte. And it seems only natural when you consider the singer’s powerful expressiveness, his body language, and his passion on stage.
On one hand, a leading choreographer of international renown; on the other, a promising young talent with a background in urban dance. While the former has been influenced by Brel’s legacy her entire life, the latter discovered him more recently through the internet. Two aesthetics, two generations. And these differences explore the themes dear to the famous Belgian singer: love, old age, the passing of time… While they seem timeless, how do his lyrics resonate today?
Accompanied by projections of images of Brel and his written lyrics, the duo moves between tenderness and solemnity, magnetism and the absurd. Doesn’t that remind you of someone?
