Canal de Carentan - Port Carentan

Sous l'impulsion de Napoléon 1er un nouveau projet de port prévoit d'utiliser le canal du Haut Dick avec une écluse à double sassement. Un trafic important entre Le Havre, l'Angleterre et Carentan se développa alors apportant prospérité à la ville jusqu'en 1940.
Ce canal débouche dans la Baie des Veys.
Le Haut Dick : un sentier le long des berges vous permet de faire une agréable promenade autour du port en passant au Pont-Canal et aux écluses ; un parcours de santé y a été aménagé.

At the instigation of Napoleon 1st, a new port project was launched using the Haut Dick canal with a double lock. Major traffic between Le Havre, England and Carentan developed, bringing prosperity to the town until 1940.
The canal opens out into the Baie des Veys.
Le Haut Dick: a path along the banks offers a pleasant stroll around the port, past the Pont-Canal and the locks; a fitness trail has also been laid out.
